Program Overview

 

The program requires satisfactory completion of 30 credit hours of course work, in addition to research leading to a thesis (6 credit hours).

 

Admission Requirements

 
  • Minimum admission requirements determined by the academic regulations for postgraduate study of the University.
  • Applicant should have a Bachelor degree from Sultan Qaboos University or from any other recognized institution.
  • Applicants with Bachelor degrees in Operations Management or any other business, engineering or science related discipline may apply.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4 – point scale or its equivalent.
  • Candidates whose GPA’s are between 2.50 and 2.75, and who possess a minimum two years of relevant work experience, may be considered for conditional admission subject to set criteria.
  • Applicant must submit a release letter or a study leave from employer for full time study or no objection letter for part-time study, addressed to the dean of postgraduate studies at SQU. Un-employed applicant needs to submit a statement from The Ministry of Labour  documenting the unemployment status of the applicant.
Post-Admission Requirements Applicants who do not meet normal admission requirements AND/OR non- business degree holders may be required to complete up to 6 of bridging courses before being considered for admission. The bridging courses will not be counted towards the overall GPA required for satisfactory progress.
English Proficiency

 

  • Submitting band (6.0) or higher in academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic or a score of (79) or higher in the International TOEFL – IBT.

or 

  • Submitting band (5.5) in the academic IELTS test or (69) in the international TOEFL test, provided that they register for the language course LANK6000 (after being admitted) during the first semester.

 

Selection Criteria The department of Operations Management will assess applicants according to its criteria, which may include a written test and/or an interview.
