I am delighted to welcome you to the College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS) website. I hope that you will find the contents of our website interesting and informative.

CEPS is one of the largest colleges in the University. The College is comprised of seven departments: Accounting, Economics and Finance, Management, Marketing, Operations Management and Business Statistics, Information System and Political Science. As a result of years of quality and excellent work, many remarkable achievements have been accomplished that made CEPS a reputable destination in the nation for quality education in Business, Economics and Political Science. The College is proud that it is affiliated with two world-class business accreditation organizations: the European Foundation Management Development (EFMD), and the American Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The College is currently working to secure accreditation from both well-reputed organizations. We believe that the accreditation will help to place CEPS globally as a center of excellence in teaching, scholarly research and community service.

  • The College of Economics and Political Science was established in 1994.
  • Currently there are 2483 students enrolled in CEPS.
  • There are nine majors, 7 departments with a Business Communication unit in the College.
  • CEPS has three postgraduate programs, part-time Master Business Administration, M.A. in International Relations and Security Studies, and Masters in Information Systems.
  • A group of information systems students received a grant under the Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award Program (FURAP) granted by The Research Council of Oman (TRC).
  • Information systems students also won awards in International competitions, such as: E-Biz competition arranged by Zayid University, UAE and Best Paper Awards in an internationally recognized conferences.
  • A group of Business Statistics students received “Best Paper Award” in students category in a conference held at Al-Musannah College of Technology, Sultanate of Oman on 11 February 2014.
  • In 2012 CEPS students participated in a business competition in Washington D.C., USA where they represented SQU out of only 12 international universities invited to the competition.
  • CEPS students secured the first and second places in the SME competition that was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in The Sultanate of Oman in 2012.

For the past four years, I have been grateful to be an undergraduate student in the Political Science Department. I have attained a lot of professional and academic knowledge from all the respected faculty, and gained a valuable experience. 

Workshop: Anti-Corruption Importance of Integrity in a Business

In collaboration with Siemens and Pearl Initiative from the UAE (http://www.pearlinitiative.org), College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS) hosted a workshop on “Anti-Corruption: Importance of Integrity in a Business” in April, 2017. 

Political Science Faculty and Students Visit Omani Embassy in Brussels

As part of their trip to NATO Headquarters and the European Parliament in March 2017, Political Science faculty Drs. Cuneyt Yenigen and Hani Albasoos visited His Excellency Omani Ambassador Najeem Bin Sulaiman Al-Abri, Sultanate's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union. 

CEPS Political Science Students at NATO Headquarters

In March, 2017, 30 CEPS students and faculty advisors travelled to Brussels on a study trip and attended two days of educational sessions in the NATO Headquarters. On Day One, students learned about NATO’s relations and security challenges with the Mediterranean and the Middle East region
