Summer Programs
  • Summer Program for School Students:

The Centre for Community Service and Continuing Education annually hosts school students through organizing the summer club (from grade 2 to grade 10), in cooperation with some university units, including the College of Education, College of Science, Centre for Preparatory Studies, and the Omani Women’s Association in Al Seeb. This program aims to help students develop their creative abilities in the mathematical, intellectual, art and technological fields. It is divided into three different categories:

- Summer Club for grades (2-4)

- Summer Club for grades (5-7)

- Summer Club for grades (8-10)

 

  • Intensive Summer Program for Grades (11-12)

Within its endeavor to help school students benefit from their summer vacation and raise their academic level, SQU organizes an intensive course on computer skills and languages for grade 10 &11. The program includes:

English: Intensive curriculum on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

International Computer Driving License: This includes computer basics and file management, word processing, presentations, information and communication. By the end of the course, the participant will receive an internationally recognized certificate if succeeded in all courses. 

 

  • Children's Medical Club

The Children's Medical Club is one of the projects carried out by the Medical Student Group, in cooperation with the Centre for Community Service and Continuing Education. It targets children in the lower grades.

The club aims to help children explore the systems of the human body and the way they work, to create an environment of curiosity and research for them and to introduce them to the most important terms used to describe the body and their functions. It, also, aims to teach students the basics of physiology and how bad habits may affect the physiology of the body as well as introducing them to the skills of problem solving and team building, and guiding them to the integrated healthy diet and its importance in maintaining human health.

The program includes identification of the body's systems: the nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, and the five senses. Scientific experiments, handicrafts, and educational and recreational games are also included.

 

  • Young Explorer

The Young Explorer Program is one of the programs associated with the Oman University, in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Centre. It is a unique summer program that targets young students at the higher grades of school. The program aims to widen the horizons of the students, strengthen their mental perceptions and refine their personality, so that they can easily get adapted to the current changes and to realize and interact with what is positive and new in the surrounding world with a scientific, global and high-responsibility thought. Therefore, this program has a strategic vision to stimulate the student's cultural, mental and psychological curiosity
