The Sultanate of Oman has witnessed remarkable progress in the education sector over the past 25 years. This is clearly evident in the continuously updated curricula, diversified teaching methods, integrated modern technologies in education, and the enhancement of teacher skills through specialised training programmes. Its educational infrastructure has also seen ongoing improvements, making knowledge more accessible to students in increasingly efficient and varied ways.

Sultan Qaboos University has played a pivotal role in the advancement of education in Oman, especially through its leadership in training teachers across a number of internationally accredited programmes. Its postgraduate programmes have also contributed significantly to the preparation of specialised educational leaders who now guide the sector at various levels, whether in school or higher education. These programmes have had a profound impact on disseminating a wide range of educational practices within the field, enriching the learning experience of Omani students.

Moreover, research partnership between Sultan Qaboos University, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Education, has had a tangible impact on the development of education in the country. This collaboration has taken shape through funded research projects and consultancy studies conducted by the university’s research teams across various educational areas. Research into education has played a crucial role in analysing challenges, offering evidence-based and data-driven solutions, and applying best practices. As a result, many educational practices, models, techniques, and standardised assessment tools have become integral to the work of education professionals across the sector.

Sultan Qaboos University remains a foundational pillar for developing education in Oman, an area identified as a top national priority in Oman Vision 2040. It ensures a sustainable and modernised education system that keeps pace with global changes, promotes comprehensive educational development, and enhances the wellbeing of individuals and society as a whole.
