I am pleased, first of all, on behalf of the academic and administrative body of the College of Law at Sultan Qaboos University, and on behalf of all the students, to welcome you to the college's website, hoping that its doors and sections will provide you with sufficient information to give you a clear and comprehensive idea about the institution's vision, mission, goals, and the activities of its departments in the fields of education and learning, scientific research, and community service.
There is no doubt that the College of Law has a pivotal role within the university system due to the nature of the knowledge entrusted to it, specifically the study of law in all its branches and types. Given the strong connection between law and society, legal knowledge has objectives it aims to achieve, the most important of which is providing society with qualified individuals capable of facilitating the understanding of law and ensuring its proper application. Moreover, the role of the College of Law is not limited to imparting legal knowledge; it is also tasked with producing knowledge, striving to develop its mechanisms, and diversifying its approaches in ways that serve society and contribute to formulating answers to its regularly posed questions.
Since joining Sultan Qaboos University in the 2006-2007 academic year, the College of Law has sought to integrate into the university system like the other colleges. Today, it is determined to move forward on the path of the vision and goals set by the university in the medium and long term. Since its incorporation into the university system has not exceeded its second decade, it is aware of the major tasks presented to it to align with its counterparts in other faculties and to keep pace with the positive developments occurring within them. In fact, the College of Law has the potential to meet this challenge and turn the necessity of achievement into actual accomplishments in the areas of education and learning, scientific research, and community service, provided that it fulfills a set of requirements necessary to realize such purposes.
There are four values that the college has adopted as guiding principles in shaping its vision, specifically: integrity, objectivity, cultural diversity, and equality. Indeed, adhering to these values in fulfilling its academic mission is key to assisting the college in meeting the challenge of development and improvement. Therefore, instilling the spirit of these values in the components of the college (academic staff, administration, and student community) will provide the necessary moral energy, motivate everyone to strengthen their affiliation with the college, and enhance their loyalty to the institution and its projects.
The college includes two academic departments: the Department of Public Law and the Department of Private Law, and four graduate programs, namely: Public Law, Criminal Law,
