Program Overview

The Master of Science in Nursing program is a two years full time program. The course is designed to prepare graduates to perform advanced nursing roles in ethical decision-making, clinical practice, consulting, expert teaching and coaching, scholarly and scientific, research, clinical professional leadership and collaboration.  The candidates are required to complete 25 credits and a master level thesis in two academic years.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in Nursing from Sultan Qaboos University, or from any recognized university.
  • A Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.5 on a 4 point scale or equivalent in any other system and the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will make the assessment for equivalency acceptance.
  • A minimum of two consecutive years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Applicant must submit a release letter or a study leave from employer, addressed to the dean of postgraduate studies at SQU. Un-employed applicant needs to submit a statement from The Public Authority of Manpower Register documenting the unemployment status of the applicant.  

English Proficiency

Before starting the program the admitted candidates should submit an English Proficiency Test Certificate Band (6) in IELTS Academic, with a minimum of 5 in each of its components or (550) in the TOEFL paper-based or (213) in TOEFL computer-based or (79) in the TOEFL through the Internet.

Selection Criteria

There will be an interview held by the Department and it can be by phone for international students if required.
