Program Overview

 

The program aims to prepare cadres specialized in educational administration and enable researchers and interested individuals to find solutions to the issues related to the field of educational administration in the Sultanate of Oman. The program also seeks to provide specialized training and research experiences that would contribute to preparing educational cadres aspiring to leadership and research academic positions in educational institutions in the Sultanate. It also aims to provide a supportive environment to develop specialized research and training expertise that is able to lead the educational development process in the Sultanate.

 

Admission Requirements

 
  • Applicants should have a Bachelor degree from Sultan Qaboos University  or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Applicants should have a Master’s degree in one of the educational fields from SQU or any recognized university.
  • The GPA of the MA should be at least 3 out of 4 as per SQU grading scheme, or the equivalent. The deanship of postgraduate studies will perform the equivalency process.
  • Applicant with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) between 2.75 and 2.99 on a 4.0 point scale may be considered for admission subject to work experience and any other academic activity.​
  • Providing a written statement of the applicant’s proposed PhD research aims and objectives.
  • Two letters of reference from academics, to show competence in the discipline of interest and research capabilities.
  • Providing evidence of computer skills.
  • A two-year experience in the educational field is required and one year experiences after complete the master degree​.
  • Providing evidence of a study leave for the same period of the program. The letter should be addressed to the dean of postgraduate studies. Non-working applicants should provide evidence from Workforce Record Authority.

 

English Proficiency

 

Before starting the program, the admitted candidates should submit an English Proficiency Test Certificate band (5) or higher in academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic or a score of (59) or higher in the International TOEFL – IBT

Selection Criteria

 
  • A written exam for all applicants.
  • Interviews with the applicants who passed the exam.
  • Providing a research proposal including title, research problem.
  • aims and significance.
  • Providing evidence of publication in refereed journals
