Postgraduate Studies Committee

 

Purpose

To provide academic leadership to the postgraduate studies in the College in order to ensure high level of graduate competence in line with contemporary international standards.

 

Responsibilities

  1. To ensure that administration of the College postgraduate programs is in line with SQU Postgraduate Regulations.
  2. To oversee the College postgraduate students' selection and scholarship allocation processes.
  3. To monitor and support the progress of postgraduate students.
  4. To provide guidance to supervisors and students regarding research policies and procedures.
  5. To review the progress of PhD students to ensure that students:
    1. knowledge and skills are appropriate to the research to be conducted.
    2. identified the appropriate and practical research methods.
    3. have a feasible plan for the progression and completion of the research within the SQU mandated PhD timeframe.
  6. To recommend action on proposed program changes, and new postgraduate programs.
  7. To periodically review postgraduate studies of the College including postgraduate students' output (patents/publications etc.) and recommend means of developing it.
  8. To act on any other related matters that may be assigned to the Committee by the Dean.
  9. To periodically report to the College Board on the progress of the Committee work.
