English language requirements

English language is a prerequisite for postgraduate studies in SQU. Where language of instruction is English and Arabic, post-graduate diploma, master's and doctoral programs required evidence of the minimum English proficiency for admission. Proof of English proficiency must be demonstrated by either (IELTS) Academic or ( iBT) TOEFL international test.

Applicants must submit valid IELTS (Academic) or TOEFL iBT test results, meeting the required score for the program applied for. The test must be valid at the time of application submission and must be valid at the time of application.

Postgraduate Diploma Admitted Students:

Admitted candidates to programs offered in English who achieve an IELTS score of 5.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 69 may enroll in an English language course during the first semester prior to registering for the Postgraduate Diploma program, and must successfully pass the course.

 

Master’s Admitted Students:

Applicants must submit valid IELTS (Academic) or TOEFL iBT test results, meeting the required score for the program applied for. The test must be valid at the time of application submission.

 

PhD Admitted Students:
Admitted candidates to programs offered in English who achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL iBT score of 79 may enroll in an English language course during the first semester prior to registering for the PhD program, and must successfully pass the course. Candidates who achieve an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent are required to take two English language courses during the first semester prior to registering for the program, and must successfully pass them.
