Program Overview

 

The student should complete the course work requirements specified in the degree plan (24 credits of postgraduate courses that include 5 required courses (15 credits) and 3 elective courses (9 credits) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Students must pass all the courses and obtain a GPA > 3.0. To be eligible to register later for a Master’s degree.

 

Admission Requirements

  •   Applicant should have a Bachelor's degree in Marine Science and Fisheries or in a related subject from Sultan Qaboos University or from any other recognized university, with Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.00 on a 4 point scale.  
  •  Applicant must submit a release letter or a study leave from employer for full time study or no objection letter for part-time study, addressed to the dean of postgraduate studies at SQU. Unemployed applicant needs to submit a statement from The Ministry of Labour documenting the unemployment status of the applicant. 

English Proficiency

 

  • Submitting band (6.0) or higher in academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic or a score of (79) or higher in the International TOEFL – IBT.

or 

  • Submitting band (5.5) in the academic IELTS test or (69) in the international TOEFL test, provided that they register for the language course LANK6000 (after being admitted) during the first semester.

 

Selection Criteria

There is a mandatory interview of all applicants to evaluate their motivation, basic knowledge, experience and communication skills.
