Scholarships

Scholarship Nomination Procedures:

Approval of the scholarship distribution for the academic year.
Colleges shall specify their selection criteria of preference.
Sorting the lists of admitted applicants who meet the scholarship conditions and nominating them according to the results of the selection criteria.
Approval of the admitted candidates nominated for scholarships by the Deputy Vice Chancellor -PSR.
Sending the scholarship offer to the nominated candidate for the scholarship.
Acceptance/Rejection of the candidate nominated for the scholarship offer.
Initial confirmation of the scholarship.
Final confirmation of the scholarship; which is linked to the registration of the student who has received the initial confirmation of the scholarship.
Completing the scholarship procedures by signing the scholarship contract with the students who have been awarded the scholarships.

Scholarships Regulation

Full scholarships, including student exemption from tuition fees and a monthly allowance.
Exemption from Tuition Fees scholarships which is limited to exemption from fees only.
Monthly Allowance scholarships which are limited to a monthly allowance only.

The student must get unconditional admission on the applied program.
For Master's scholarships, the student must have a minimum Accumulative Grade Points Average of 3.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent in the undergraduate degree.
For PhD scholarships, students must satisfy admission requirements stipulated in the University's Postgraduate Academic Regulation.
The student must be full time.

For Full and Monthly Allowance Scholarships:

Monthly allowance during scholarship duration, based on the contract.
International students coming from abroad and got full scholarship are eligible to get a two-way economy class ticket annually, to the nearest international airport to his/her permanent residence. Omani students who got full scholarship are eligible to get annual ticket based on the contract.
Paid leave for 36 working days upon approval of the Department Head.

For both Full scholarships and Exemption from Tuition Fees Scholarships:

Exemption from tuition fees.

Must be full time student for the duration of the program.
Participate in academic / administrative work for no more than (10) hours a week for full scholarship and (5) hours a week for exemption from tuition fees scholarship.
Commitment to work specified by the department head.
Fully comply with SQU Regulations, Policies and Decisions issued by the Vice Chancellor.

Non-registration of the semester.
Absence from work, for full and monthly allowance scholarships for more than (15) consecutive days or (21) non-consecutive days and for exemption from tuition fees scholarship for more than (7) consecutive days or (10) non-consecutive days without a valid excuse.
Poor performance in the assigned work based on the evaluation form set for this purpose.
Postponement of study after the first semester.
Violation of scholarship duties and obligations stated in the contract except for full-time.
Violation of ethics and morals in force at the university.

The privileges and obligations shall be resumed automatically when registering for non-registration and postponement suspension reasons.
The recommendation of the College Dean with approval of the Postgraduate Studies Dean is required to redeem the suspended scholarship for the other suspension reasons.
The privileges and obligations for the other suspension reasons shall be resumed from the date of the Postgraduate Studies Dean’s approval. The student will not be reimbursed for any payment done during the suspension period.

The scholarship shall be terminated in the following cases:

Withdrawal from the academic program.
Withdrawal from the scholarship.
Postponement of study in the first semester.
Violation of full-time commitment.
Violation of scholarship conditions and scholarship contract term.
Scholarship may not be recouped once terminated; the student may refund in full the tuition fees paid to the University in case of cancellation.

Scholarships Allocated to University Employees

Sultan Qaboos University, represented in the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and the Human Resources Development Center, seeks to qualify university employees and hone their skills by allocating a number of scholarships to university employees who are enrolled in graduate programs at the university as follows:

Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies, aims to increase support and attract international students by allocating scholarships for international students enrolled in postgraduate programs at the university as follows:
