Dr. Mouyad Kassm Alsamara is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Finance & Economics Department, College of Business and Economics, at Qatar University. He holds a PhD in Monetary Economics from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and the Paris School of Economics, as well as two master's degrees and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Damascus University. His academic career includes teaching roles at Qatar University, ESCE International Business School, Paris Descartes University, Paris-Est University, and Damascus University. His teaching interests cover macroeconomics, microeconomics, money and banking, monetary policy, international economics, econometrics, and defence economics. His research focuses on monetary economics, exchange-rate pass-through, economic growth, financial stability, energy economics, and the relationship between the environment and economic growth. He has authored more than 35 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, including Empirical Economics, Economic Modelling, Energy Economics, International Review of Economics and Finance, Applied Economics, and Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. His professional experience also includes work as an economist in the Research Department of the Central Bank of Syria and collaboration with international experts from the IMF, World Bank, and European Central Bank. He has contributed to research and policy activities with organizations including ESCWA-UN, the Economic Research Forum, the International Labour Organization, Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce, and Al Jazeera Media Network. At Qatar University, he has served in curriculum and assessment roles, including chairing the Assessment and Curriculum Committee for the Economics Program, and has contributed to accreditation, sustainability, and academic service committees. He also has extensive experience as a reviewer for international journals in economics, finance, energy, trade, and environmental studies.
