Foundation Program course registration

Students are automatically registered for Foundation Program courses by the Registration Office of the Centre of Preparatory Studies.
Changes to the class schedule are not permitted except in exceptional circumstances approved by the Foundation Program Administration.
Students are not eligible to register for their college specialization courses until they have successfully completed all Foundation Program requirements.

Registering university courses alongside the Foundation Program

Students may register for certain university courses while enrolled in the Foundation Program, in accordance with the University's academic regulations and subject to the following conditions:

Students are responsible for registering university courses through the Deanship of Admissions and Registration's online registration system after the Foundation Program course registration has been completed.
Students may not register for specialization courses in their respective colleges until they have successfully completed the Foundation Program requirements in English, Mathematics, Information Technology and Study and Life Skills.
Students may register for University Requirement courses, such as Arabic Language, Islamic Civilization, and other elective courses, upon reaching Level 6 of the English Foundation Program, in accordance with the University's approved academic regulations.
The time spent by a student in the Foundation Program is not counted as part of the normal duration of study.
The period of study begins to be counted once the student has successfully completed all Foundation Program courses, with the exception of the Study and Life Skills course, which may be taken concurrently with major courses.

Cases in Which Students May Register for University Requirement or Elective Courses

English Language Courses

Result	Action
✓ Grade C- or above	Students are registered in the next course. For example, a student who earns C- or higher in FPEL0120 will be registered in FPEL0340 in the following semester.
↻ Below Grade C- in FPEL 0120, FPEL 0230, FPEL 0340, or FPEL 0450	Students repeat the second half of the course. For example, a student who earns D+ in FPEL0120 will be registered in FPEL0230, thereby repeating Level 2 while studying Level 3 simultaneously.
F Grade F	Students must repeat the entire course in the following semester. For example, a student who receives F in FPEH/S0603 will be registered in the same course again.
F×2 Grade F in two consecutive semesters	Students will not be registered for another English Foundation course. Instead, they may either sit for the English Exit Test or submit a valid IELTS certificate, in accordance with the University's regulations. For IELTS, a minimum overall band score of 5.0 is required, with no individual band score below 4.5.

Information Technology Course

D+ Grade D or above	Students are considered to have successfully completed the Foundation Program requirement for Information Technology.
F Grade F	Students are permitted to repeat the Information Technology course once only.
F×2 Two Grade Fs	Students are not allowed to re-register for the Information Technology course. They may take the Exit Test during the first week of the Fall or Spring semester, or submit an ICDL or IC3 certificate issued by the Centre of Preparatory Studies. IC3 ICDL

Study and Life Skills Course

i Course Registration	Students are registered for the Study and Life Skills course according to priorities determined by the Student Advising and Registration Department.
✓ Completion of the English, Mathematics, and Information Technology requirements	Students may register for major courses in accordance with their college's approved study plan after enrolling in the Study and Life Skills course. From that point onward, the normal period of study begins to be counted.
★ Academic Status	Students who have completed the Foundation Program requirements in English, Mathematics, and Information Technology and are registered in the Study and Life Skills course are treated as having completed the Foundation Program requirements for the purpose of registering in specialization courses.
F First Grade F	Students will be registered to repeat the course in the following semester.
