The Pathology Department organized a “Genitourinary Pathology Workshop” with the support of SQUH Directorate of Training, which was held from 9th to 10th February 2025 in IntercityHotel, Muscat.

• • The Science Curriculum Department at the General Directorate of Curriculum Development, Ministry of Education, visited the Electron Microscopy Unit in the Department of Pathology at the College of Medicine on May 7^th, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to enrich the scientific and practical experience of curriculum specialists and to enable them to adopt best scientific and educational practices, such as:
• Gaining an understanding of the operation of advanced electron microscopes, including the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM).
• Acquiring practical knowledge in sample preparation and processing for electron microscopy, tailored to the specific requirements of each microscope type.
• Exploring the applications of electron microscopy in scientific research and education, and evaluating its potential to enrich the scientific content of school science curricula.
• Raising awareness of the role of modern microscopy technologies in enhancing scientific learning, and considering the integration of real microscopic images and analyses into educational materials to improve students’ visual comprehension.
• Exchanging expertise with electron microscopy specialists and discussing opportunities to incorporate this knowledge into the school curriculum.

The Pathology Department received several student groups in 2024 that visited the Electron Microscopy unit:

• Abdullah bin Jaafar School – Al Rustaq (Male Students) on 22/2/2024.
• Wadi Bani Khalid School - Al Sharqiya North (Female Students) on 7/3/2024.
• Musandam School – (Male Students) on 20/5/2024.
• Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture & Science, Diwan of Royal Court - (Male Students) on 9/12/2024.

The Pathology Department Staff contributed in organizing the International Biomedical Science Day 2024 (????? ????):

• Ms. Marwa Al Shukri, Pathology BMS Staff, was a member in the main organizing team of this event.
• Mr. Ahmed Al Shuaibi, Mr. Mahmood Al Badowi & Mr. Khalfan Al Jabri, Pathology BMS team organized and moderated the Pathology booth, which demonstrated how samples are processed in a Pathology lab with a focus on the topic of thyroid cancer.

• Dr. Kawther Al Adawi, Pathology BMS Senior Specialist conducted a workshop on “Alignment of Light Microscope”. 

• Ms. Marwa Al Shukri & Dr. Kawther Al Adawi contributed in organizing and moderating the scientific presentations at this event. 

Ms. Marwa Al Shukri, EM Biomedical Scientist, was the supervisor of the Donor 1000 Students team and contributed significantly in organizing two seasons of the Colleges League for Blood Donation event during the year 2024. This event was in collaboration with the SQUH Blood Bank and the Central Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health. It involved formulation of student teams from each of the Colleges at SQU to organize and manage the event, communication with companies to secure financial sponsorship, evaluating the students’ teams participating in the blood donation campaigns, supervising the event campaigns and the opening ceremony and the awards ceremony.

1. “TEM Seminar for Life Sciences”, which was presented by two invited speakers supported by Thermofisher Scientific Company held on 23^rd April 2024. 

2. “Motivational skills at work” Workshop by Dr. Samira Al Rawahi, Chief BMS Pathology organized with the support of the Directorate of Training and held on 5^th May 2024.

3. “Principles and Use of Light Microscopy” Workshop by Dr. Kawther Al Adawi, Pathology BMS Senior Specialist organized with the support of the Directorate of Training and held on 5^th September 2024.
