This program aims to prepare qualified Chemistry teachers to work in secondary schools although graduates will also be eligible to teach general science subjects in basic schools. Theoretical lectures are supplemented by laboratory experiments, workshops, seminars and study sessions, as well as practical training.
The program extends over eight semesters, during which time students must complete 132 credit hours of study, consisting of 18 hours of general cultural courses (University requirements), 75 hours of specialized academic instruction in Chemistry and 39 hours of educational and vocational courses (College requirements). Field placement in basic and secondary schools ensures that practical as well as theoretical skills are mastered.
There are employment opportunities for graduates with B.Ed (Science Education – Chemistry) in both basic and secondary schools.
