Welcome to the Nursing Laboratory and Simulation Unit (NLSU). The unit is located at the ground floor of the College of Nursing. Our vision is to be a state of art clinical simulation facility that will bring innovation to nursing education, professional development and research.

The unit is divided into nursing skills and simulation laboratory. The nursing skills laboratories are prepared with various manikins, models and part-task trainers that provide learners with an opportunity to practice their nursing skills, integrate theory to practice, think critically and ensure patient safety.

The simulation laboratory is equipped with advanced Audio-visual technology (SMOTS) that enables the recording and debriefing of the simulation session. The simulation laboratory uses the human patient simulators, standardized patients and hybrid simulation as different approaches for simulation. Currently, the laboratory houses 3 high fidelity simulators namely; METI-ECS the critical care simulator, Noelle the childbirth simulator and Pedi Hal the 5-year pediatric simulator.

Guidelines for conducting training in NLSU

Training conducted by College of Nursing in campus:

• An official booking should be submitted  to the  director  of NLSU 2 weeks prior to the event day. 

• The organizing committee should meet NLSU team after receiving the booking confirmation to discuss the plan, equipments and number rooms needed for the training.  

• The organizing committee should check the preparations the day prior to the session.

• NLSU personnel  will provide technical support if needed.

• The organizing committee is responsible to hand over the labs in a tidy status once the training session is over.

• NLSU personnel  will check the equipment once received.

Training conducted by outsiders in NLSU:

• Booking letter should be submitted to the dean at least 3 weeks prior to the event.

• The organizing committee should meet NLSU team after receiving the booking confirmation to discuss the plan, equipments and number rooms needed for the training.

• The organizing committee should check the preparations the day prior to the session.

• NLSU personnel  will provide technical support if needed.

• The organizing committee is responsible to hand over the labs in a tidy status once the training session is over.

• NLSU personnel  will check the equipment once received.

Lending items for college activities:

• The request to borrow items for college community activities or Students extracurricular activities must be submitted to  director of NLSU at least one week prior to the activity.

• The lab personnel will prepare the requested items

• No items will be issued after 03:30PM

• In case of damage or loss of any item, the borrower must pay or replace the item

Lending Items for college offsite activities:

• Any requests to borrow items from the NLSU must be  submitted to the director of NLSU at least one week prior to the activity.

• NLSU personnel will discuss and confirm the availability of the items with the requesting party

• NLSU personnel will prepare the requested items

• No items will be issued after 03:30PM

• Lended items and equipments will be checked by NLSU personnel once received.

• In case of damage or loss of any item, the borrower must pay or replace the item

Lending Items for non-college party:

• Any requests to borrow items from NLSU must be submitted with letter to the Dean’s office at least 2 weeks prior to the activity.

• NLSU personnel will discuss and confirm the availability of the items with the requesting party.

• NLSU personnel will prepare the requested items.

• No items will be issued after 03:30PM.

• Lended items and equipments will be checked by NLSU personnel once received.

• In case of damage or loss of any item, the borrower must pay or replace the item.
