Inspire Activity

What is the objective of the activity?

The aim of the Inspire activity is to create a platform where professionals share important messages or experiences in research, teaching, clinical practice, conference attendance, or other scholarly activity. The activity aims to stimulate discussion between presenter and attendees where insights will be taken home. The activity does not intend to provide a comprehensive review of any given topic.

How frequent will be the Inspire presentations?

One presentation a month

How long will be the Inspire presentation?

One hour. We anticipate interactive discussion between the presenter and the attendees. For example, 30 minutes can be allocated for content presentation and 30 minutes for discussion or activities.

How will the presentations be selected?

The activity organizers will review the applications based on the significance of the topic and its potential for discussion provoking. All applications will be evaluated following specific criteria comprising four different aspects; attractiveness of the topic, innovation being shared, usefulness to profession, and document organization. Please refer to the appendix for the criteria for selection of a presentation.

What documents should be submitted with the application?

Applicants should be submitting a proposal comprising the following elements:

  1. Cover page that includes the following:
    • Title of the presentation
    • Given and family name/s and degree/s of contributing author/s (list the highest degree). Indicate the presenter.
  2. A rationale/ argument for why this presentation is of importance for the audience and what implications it has for research, teaching, clinical practice, etc. (1-page, 1.5 space).
  3. Any of the following (1-page, 1.5 space):
  • Abstract for an interesting completed research study (Background, aim, methods, results, & conclusions)
  • Summary of a research related activity. Examples include but are not limited to:
    • a message from participation in a national/ international conference or a course on research approaches
    • a recent practice-based evidence
    • experiences related to data collection procedures
  • Summary of innovative approaches to pedagogical activities and/or clinical practice.
  • Summary of any other scholarly- related activity.
