A team from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has qualified for the final round of PetroBowl Championship, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas, USA in October.

The four-member team consists of Reem al Riyamia, Noor al Manaia, Anwaar al Muqbalia and Mahmood al Busaidi.

Anwaar said, “The PetroBowl Championship is an annual academic competition organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, attracting universities from all over the world. The competition is known for its rapid-fire section that tests participants’ knowledge of the petroleum industry.”

The team’s remarkable performance in the PetroBowl regional competition held in Egypt in July helped secure a spot in the 22nd PetroBowl Championship.

According to Anwaar, the team’s achievement reflects its members’ commitment to learning and their passion for petroleum engineering.

The competition aims to enhance students’ scientific and practical experiences in petroleum engineering. Participation in the PetroBowl Championship final will not only expand their expertise but also give them a platform to connect with peers from around the world.

“The rapid-fire nature of the competition demands extensive knowledge, requiring rigorous study. Additionally, factors like travel arrangements and financial aspects contributed to the challenge,” Anwaar said.

“Participating in the regional PetroBowl competition has helped improve the team’s abilities and scientific knowledge, while also strengthening professional relationships and facilitating the exchange of valuable experiences,” Anwaar said.
