Cooperation Programme Enhancing Research and Training in Service Sectors

11 Mar, 2025 | Return|

SQU and the Authority for Public Services Regulation signed a cooperation programme this morning aimed at strengthening academic and research collaboration. This initiative seeks to facilitate the exchange of expertise and the development of research and consultancy fields within the electricity, water, wastewater, natural gas transmission, and waste management sectors.

The cooperation agreement was signed by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, and His Excellency Dr. Mansoor bin Talib Al-Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation. This step reinforces the partnership between academic institutions and regulatory bodies, opening new avenues for collaboration in research and training.

Under the programme, SQU will provide technical support and training in areas overseen by the Authority, in addition to offering research expertise and participating in joint studies and research projects. Furthermore, the Authority will be invited to take part in events and seminars organised by SQU, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise between both parties.

In return, the Authority for Public Services Regulation will facilitate access for university researchers to essential information and data for their studies. It will also involve SQU in consultancy studies it commissions. Additionally, the Authority will offer practical training opportunities for university students in companies under its supervision and provide funding for postgraduate scholarships in disciplines that align with its fields, such as renewable energy, sustainability, and waste management.
