National Committee for Bioethics Holds its First Meeting this Year

The National Committee for Bioethics held its first meeting of the year today in the University Council Hall. His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Committee, presided over the meeting with the attendance of the committee members.

His Highness started the meeting expressing his thanks to the members for their attendance and active participation. Then the committee reviewed the agenda, which included discussions on key topics, including the recommendations of the 12th Intellectual Forum on Ethics of Elderly Care: The Role of Government Institutions, Social Responsibility, and Individual Accountability.

Additionally, the committee continued discussions on proposed topics for the Fourth International Conference on Bioethics 2026, as well as its stance on ethical issues related to the collection and preservation of human sperm, and the Guide to Conditions and Procedures for Organ Donation (During Life). Ethical considerations concerning the Brain Death Protocol were also deliberated.

The National Bioethics Committee remains a pioneering body in promoting ethical values in the scientific and medical fields.
