Delegation from the National Defence College Visits SQU
A delegation from the 12th National Defence Course, headed by Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah Al-Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College, visited Sultan Qaboos University with the aim of gaining insight into the University’s cultural and scientific aspects as well as its academic programmes.
The delegation was received by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, the Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Salim bin Hamoud Al-Harthi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service.
During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the academic system and the services provided to students, in addition to an overview of the University’s leading academic programmes across various colleges, including bachelor, master’s, and doctoral programmes at the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
Dr. Sulaiman bin Dawood Al-Sab’ei, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, gave a briefing on the University, while Dr. Huda bint Jumaa Al-Balushi, Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at the College of Arts and Social Sciences, highlighted the College’s key programmes. She stressed the national and academic importance of the Master of Arts in Strategic Studies for National Security and Defence, a joint programme between the National Defence College and the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
The visit concluded with a tour of the University Cultural Centre, where the delegation was briefed on its facilities and activities.
