A Showcase of Talent Organised by OMBS
Sultan Qaboos University hosted the second edition of the Student Festival organised by the Operations Management and Business Statistics Group (OMBS) at the College of Economics and Political Science. The event took place from 23 to 24 November 2025 near the Open Amphitheatre’s parking lot and was held under the patronage of Professor Amer bin Saif Al-Hinai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The festival embodied the concept of modern management as a practical model that highlights the role of operations management in organising events and enhancing operational efficiency. Visitor flow, booth design, and activity scheduling were managed using precise operational methodologies that integrated planning, execution, and follow-up, thereby enriching both the educational and community experience.
The festival featured five main sections: a pavilion for student small and medium enterprises; a scientific pavilion for the Operations Management Group; a pavilion for supporting companies; a food and beverage pavilion; and a pavilion for interactive performances.
The second edition offered a wide-ranging programme focusing on: fostering students’ spirit of initiative and creativity; showcasing new talents through effective evaluation processes; developing intellectual and practical skills based on operational planning principles; supporting small and medium enterprises through well-planned marketing and organisational activities; and enriching the community with educational and recreational activities that combine benefit and enjoyment.
