Sahmyook Delegation Promotes Health and Cultural Exchange
The College of Nursing, in collaboration with the International Cooperation Office, hosted a delegation of volunteers from Sahmyook Health University in the Republic of South Korea. The delegation comprised 15 male and female students, along with six academic and administrative supervisors. The visit to Oman aims to introduce Korean culture and deliver educational health programmes to secondary school and university students in Muscat Governorate.
The visit also seeks to enhance students’ competencies, develop their leadership skills, and provide them with hands-on experience while fulfilling social responsibility. In addition, it supports the promotion of student and tourism exchange between the two countries.
A range of health-related, educational, and recreational activities organised by the Korean delegation took place in the College of Nursing’s reception hall and a number of classrooms. These included a booth dedicated to learning the Korean language, where participants were introduced to basic expressions such as greetings, as well as writing names and the Korean alphabet. Other activities featured opportunities to sample Korean cuisine, experience traditional games, and learn about the Korean healthcare system and nursing education. The delegation also distributed free samples of Korean-made cosmetic products and healthcare tools.
It is worth noting that Sahmyook Health University was established in 1963 and is based in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of South Korea. The university specialises in health sciences and related fields of care and health services. It has a volunteer team that oversees domestic and international community service programmes, through which students are sent abroad during holiday periods. These programmes aim to serve communities through health-related volunteering, while offering students the opportunity to engage with different cultures, broaden their humanitarian perspectives, and contribute to professional development through practical application and fieldwork, in addition to fostering a spirit of giving and cooperation among participants.
