SQU Teams Stand out at 2nd GCC University Sports Tournament
The University’s female student teams have achieved two notable successes at the Second GCC Sports Tournament for Universities and Higher Education Institutions of the GCC countries. The badminton team won the bronze medals after securing third place in the tournament, which is hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.
The team comprised the following students: Aisha bint Khalaf Al-Abri from the College of Nursing; and Sara bint Khalaf Al-Abri, Shaikha bint Khamis Al-Mahdhouri, Anwaar bint Ibrahim Al-Farsi, and Duaa bint Mohammed Al-Adawi from the College of Education. The team was coached by Maram bint Saud Al-Bahrani, a sports coach at the Deanship of Student Affairs.
The second achievement was secured by the University’s female volleyball team, which claimed second place after defeating Hamad Bin Khalifa University 2–0. The team had achieved its first victory the previous day after defeating the University of Technology and Applied Sciences by the same score. The team was coached by Ghada Al-Abri and Shaheera Al-Zadjali.
