Duties and responsibilities

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. Successful candidate is expected to:

  • Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (MSc. and MBA) course, and supervise MSc and PhD Thesis. The normal load is 3-4 sections per semester (2 semesters per academic year).
  • Supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate projects and dissertations.
  • Engage in scholarly research activities leading to publications in refereed index and ranked international journals.
  • Initiate research collaboration with researchers from various universities as well as industry partners leading to successful research grants
  • Play an important role in research, curriculum development, graduate supervision and attracting research funding.
  • Produce scholarly work and lead department research output.
  • Engage in services for the university, professional and local communities.

 

Requirements 

The Department invites fulltime and visiting faculty positions from suitable candidates. The position in the Information Systems Department within College of Economics and Political Science, Sultan Qaboos University.  Candidates should fulfil the following requirements:

  • Should have a PhD in Information Systems (IS) or Computer Science or related areas from an internationally recognized university
  • MSc in Information Systems (IS) or Computer Science or related areas from an internationally recognized university (strictly NO MBA)
  • Should be specialized in one or more of the following areas: Data Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Business Analytics.
  • Should have experience in teaching IS courses at undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) levels and supervising MSc/PhD research in IS
  • Able to develop new courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) levels
  • Experience in academic advising and curriculum development
  • Should be active researchers in their areas of specialization and intellectually engaged in their discipline
  • Should also have the necessary practical computing skills in their areas of expertise.
  • Should be participating members of the university, professional and local communities.

  • تدريس في المرحلة الجامعية الأولى والدراسات العليا (ماجستير نظم معلومات وماجستير في إدارة الأعمال) والإشراف على أطروحات الماجستير والدكتوراه.
  • العبء التدريسي الطبيعي 3  شعب )لكل فصل دراسي ( وفصلين دراسيين في العام الدراسي
  • المشاركة في أنشطة البحث العلمي التي تؤدي إلى نشرها في مجلات دولية مصنفة.
  •  المبادرة في التعاون في مجال البحث العلمي مع مختلف الجامعات والشركات الذي يؤدي إلى الحصول على منح بحث ناجحة.
  • لعب دور مهم في مجالات البحث وتطوير المناهج والإشراف على الطلبة وجذب تمويل للبحث العلمي.
  • إنتاج أعمال علمية ذات قيمة عالية تساعد القسم في تحقيق أهدافه.
  •  المشاركة في تقديم خدمات للجامعة وخدمة المجتمع بشكل مهني.

 

Requirements(Arabic)

يتطلب المنصب في قسم نظم المعلومات في كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية بجامعة السلطان قابوس ما يلي:

  • أن يكون المتقدمين حاصلين على درجة الدكتوراه في نظم المعلومات أو علوم الكمبيوتر أو المجالات ذات الصلة من جامعة معترف بها دوليًا (ما عدا ماجستير إدارة الأعمال )
  • ينبغي أن يكون المتقدمين متخصصين في أحد أو أكثر من المجالات التالية: علوم البيانات والذكاء الاصطناعي وتعلم الآلة وذكاء الأعمال
  • ينبغي أن يكون المتقدمين من ذوي الخبرة في تدريس متطلبات برنامج نظم المعلومات للطلاب الدراسات الجامعية الأولى والدراسات العليا (ماجستير وماجستير إدارة الأعمال) والإشراف على اطروحات درجة الماجستير والدكتوراة
  • ينبغي أن يكون المتقدمين قادرين على تطوير مقررات جديدة على المستويين الدراسات الجامعية الأولى والدراسات العليا (ماجستير وماجستير في إدارة الأعمال).
  • خبرة في مجال الإرشاد الأكاديمي وتطوير المناهج الدراسية
  • ينبغي أن يكونوا باحثين نشطين في مجالات تخصصهم ومنخرطين فكريا في تخصصهم
  • ينبغي أن يكون لدى المتقدمين أيضًا المهارات العملية اللازمة في مجالات خبرتهم.
  • يجب أن يكون المتقدمين أعضاء مشاركين في الجامعة والمجتمعات المهنية والمحلية.
