1- Assist in developing a comprehensive IT strategy for the College.
2- Encourage and support the development of a web-based teaching and learning environment within the College.
3- Enhance the use of medical informatics technology for teaching and assessment purposes.
4- Supplement the teaching strategies used in the College.
5- Teach medical students introductory courses in Medical Informatics.
6- Increase faculty competencies in the use of medical informatics tools.
7- Strengthen the integration of medical informatics technologies in the areas of teaching, research and service.
8- Provide consultation to medical professionals in the application of medical informatics and the implementations of e-learning.
9- Design remote telemedicine conferences and workshops.
10- To provide live, ongoing training for medical students and residents via remote broadcast of the diagnostic procedure for important or rare cases, or selected surgical procedures using the Telemedicine facilities.
12- To use the Telemedicine for delivering continuing medical education programs.
13- To evaluate the effectiveness of current state-of-the-art Telemedicine technology as an infrastructure for a National Telemedicine Services.
14- To practically evaluate the effectiveness of different medical e-learning media in order to take advantage of such technologies.
15- To develop and produce specialized medical educational web portal (large scale website which has e-learning courses using real cases within SQUH).
16- To study the feasibility of using the Virtual Reality for clinical training of undergraduate/postgraduate medical students.
17- To promote and conduct active multi-disciplinary research to study the effectiveness of using the latest Medical Informatics technology products such as Virtual Reality. |
