“Cultures” Event Celebrates Diversity at the University
The University’s Office of International Cooperation recently organised the “Cultures” event under the patronage of Professor Salim bin Hamoud Al-Harthi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Services. The event, held at the open-air plaza of the University Cultural Centre, saw extensive participation from students of various nationalities.
The event aimed to promote cultural exchange and foster understanding and coexistence among different cultures. It featured participation from 12 countries, each showcasing its traditions, social customs, and cultural heritage, alongside samples of traditional cuisine.
A cultural exhibition was also part of the event, with pavilions representing the participating countries. A dedicated corner highlighted Omani heritage, presenting traditional crafts such as date-leaf weaving (saqafiyat), traditional Omani attire, Omani bread, and Omani sweets, reflecting the richness of Oman’s cultural legacy.
The event was accompanied by a range of activities, including artistic and heritage performances, providing an interactive experience for visitors and creating a space for cultural dialogue among the university community.
It is noteworthy that the “Cultures” event forms part of the University’s ongoing efforts to promote cultural openness and support interaction between international and local students, contributing to a diverse and culturally rich campus environment.
