Bachelor's Program in History:
The Bachelor of Arts in History program began in 1987. It aims to strengthen students’ skills by offering a comprehensive academic study in the fields of local, regional, and global history. Through a scientific and analytical methodological approach, the program contributes to understanding the development of human societies across different eras, and enhances students’ skills in critical thinking and rigorous historical research—thereby fostering their cultural awareness and national identity.
The department strives to achieve the following objectives in its Undergraduate program (Bachelor):
• To provide students with a broad knowledge of history, covering ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary periods at the local, regional, and global levels.
• To develop critical and independent thinking skills through reading and analyzing historical sources and interpreting historical events and phenomena using historical research methodologies, in order to understand the present and anticipate the future.
• To prepare academically and professionally qualified graduates for careers in education, scientific research, media, diplomacy, and cultural and heritage institutions.
• To promote cultural and historical identity by reinforcing awareness of the history of Omani, Arab, and Islamic societies and connecting it to global historical contexts.
• To equip students with scientific research skills in the field of historical studies, with a commitment to research ethics and quality, and the use of modern tools and digital technologies.
