IT & User Services

The Main Library provides a range of IT and user support services, including wireless access, public computers, and printing, copying, and scanning facilities, designed to support study, research, and access to information resources.

Connectivity

Wireless (Main Library)

The Main Library building has a wireless network, allowing users to use their own laptops and devices to access the Internet, the library catalog, and other electronic resources available in the university.

Eduroam Network

Available for faculty, students, and employees using their university username and password directly, without needing to register devices in the SQU Portal.

Up to two devices can be connected per user at the same time.

Lib Members Network

This network is available for visitors who hold a library membership card. The Electronic Resources Department provides and activates this service.

Access

Computers (Main Library)

The Main Library offers computers for general use that enable users to access the Internet and search the library catalog and electronic resources.

Support Service

Print, Copy & Scan

A stationery shop on the ground floor of the Main Library sells office supplies and provides printing, copying, and scanning services.

What is Reproduction?

Making one or more copies of a work, performance, or sound recording by any means and in any form, including permanent or temporary electronic storage, printing, and photocopying.

All library information resources are protected by Oman Law for the Protection of Copyrights and Neighboring Right (2008) . Use of these resources is also subject to the terms of licenses agreed between the library and publishers.

Permitted Use

  • Up to 10% or one chapter (whichever is greater) of a book or thesis, plus associated endnotes or references.
  • One article from each issue of a journal or periodical.
  • Up to 10 pages of a poem, short story, or other short literary work.
  • Up to 10% (maximum 20 pages) of a short book, report, or pamphlet.

Restrictions

  • Library information resources must not be used for commercial purposes or resold.
  • It is prohibited to reproduce a whole book, thesis, or journal issue.
  • Systematic or automatic downloading, printing, or saving of electronic resources is prohibited.
  • Sharing your username, password, or University ID with others is prohibited.
  • It is prohibited to bypass or invalidate protection techniques such as encryption or passwords.
  • It is prohibited to remove or alter copyright management information.
  • It is prohibited to distribute or post library resources on websites or social networks.
