ARED 1101 Life Drawing

This course aims to provide students with the basics elements and principles of composition in artwork, the role of balance, unity and texture in artworks., and the role of line, form and space in demonstrating work of art. 

 

ARED 1102 Introduction to Art Education

 The course provides students with definitions of Education and Art Education, various types of arts such as: drawing, photography, sculpture, textile, etc. It also familiarizes students with the role of arts in the lives of individuals and societies.

 

ARED 1103 Ceramic 1

This course aims at developing the students’ skills of shaping porcelain and preparing clay for production as well as knowing the basic stages in producing porcelain; drying, biscuit firing and painting with a study of the different forms of Islamic and modern porcelain.

  

ARED 1050 Painting (1)

This course aims at developing the student’s basic skills of expression through the elements of a paint and mastering the skills and techniques related to this art. It also encourages the development of their artistic personality, acquiring artistic terms of the art language through main topics such as the scene, drawing structures and silent nature.

 

ARED 1202 Principle of Design

 The course covers: Basic concepts of elements, basics of dimensional design, structure of nature and Islamic Art, knowledge and skills related to the application of design process to various art fields.

 

ARED1203 History of Art And Civilization

This is an introduction to the study of arts in ancient civilizations; Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilization to know their general and specific features and perceive the relationship between each era and its artistic production. It also aims at increasing the student’s awareness of the importance of art and it role in developing civilization and helping him to acquire a critical skill to help him in applying these arts in real life.

 

ARED 2101 Weaving with Fabrics

This course deals with the art of weaving from different aspects; its main types, traditional and artificial materials, structures, manual forms, the common types in the Omani environment. It also aims at developing the students' skills of manual weaving through different treatments to produce creative structures and aesthetic variables to experiment varying the colors of threads and adding other materials.

 

ARED 2102 (Painting 2)

This course aims at developing students experiences in the field of photography, widening their approaches of studying this art through new techniques, new materials, varied ways of treatments, experimentation, looking for new aesthetic variables suitable for the student’s personality which help to display his uniqueness.

                                                                                                                           

ARED 2104  ( Modern Paintings )

The main aim of this course is to develop the understanding of the modern and international practical experience in creating artworks. As well as developing creative solutions to produce unique artworks with his/her own style by using different materials from the environment. It will improve the notification of the international practical experience in making artworks. Moreover, it will develop the ability among students to create modern compositions in order to become a creative person in making artworks.

 

ARED 2201 Print Making

 The course covers: different methods of printing textile and various surfaces especially manual methods such as: stencil, dying, batik, etc.

 

ARED 2202 Ceramics II

This course teaches various creative skills required in production of ceramics, by giving the student the opportunity to create works of art. The aim is to develop awareness of artistic and aesthetic values relevant to space, touch, mass, colour, the effects of firing, the relation between form and function, and proportionality between the whole and its parts in works of art. It is also aims to develop the student's skills in glazing ceramics: composition of glazes, chemical reactions in ceramic glazes and the resultant colours and visual effects, heat treatments and their effects. The student carries out practical experiments to investigate composition and the visual effects of glazes.

 

ARED 1010 Drawing form Natural

This course aims at using painting as a means of perceptual process through which forms perceived in nature and our feelings towards them are interpreted. It also aims at developing students’ perceptions of spacial positions of objects regardless of the traditional rules of perspectives. Students need to be able to use different types of pencils and ink pens

 

ARED 2203 (Drawing 2)

The course aims at developing students’ abilities of observing and understanding spatial relationships between objects, either natural or artificial and treating it with drawing materials. Also, it aims at providing the students with opportunities to express their special styles of drawing and building up a fair amount of artistic perceptions and ideas related to the field.

 

ARED 2204 Child Art

 This course covers: different aspects of Child Art, history of Child Art, the relationship between child art development and his/her cognitive and social development, methods of developing creativity in children, the role of the teacher, characteristics of gifted children.

                                                                                                                          

ARED 3101 Theories and History of Art Education

This course presents the theories and scientific researches and their effect on understanding the artistic behavior of children to help the teacher in orientation, evaluation and development of this behavior in order to determine the extent of students response to the activities of Art Education and its relationship to the cultural life of the society as well as the relationship between the educational thought in different eras to teaching art in different stages beside studying the development of different intellectual trends to have a clear vision of the history of this art.

 

ARED 3102 Handicrafts

This advanced course aims to achieve special artistic skills through integrated applications of different handicrafts work such as leather, woodcrafts, dull, glass, masks and others. Different materials also will be included in the content of the course in order to enable students to practice and use various materials and techniques while teaching art education

 

 ARED 3201   Islamic Art

This course aims at developing students’ understanding of the effect of Islam and its philosophy in the art life and artistic creativity such as architecture, porcelain, photography, the social role of art and the utilization of art in daily life. It also aims at uncovering the unique characteristics of the Islamic art, knowing it fields and branches as well as its different schools.

 

ARED 3202   Sculpture

Students will practice making forms using raw materials such as: wood, clay and stone. It also enables students to express themselves through sculpture values such as: vacuum, block, color and touch.

 

ARED 4101 Graphic Design

The course is intended to understand the graphic design principles using computer software. Applying graphic design skills to create art work and to develop some educational aims. It is also provide students with more understanding to the problem solving process that might face the design in the finishing design.

 

ARED 4106 Final Project in Art Education

In this course, the student undertakes an independent study on a subject connected with the theory of art education, or one of the creative disciplines, or the history of art. The project is to contain a theoretical component as well as appropriate practical work.

 

ARED 4201 Modern and Contemporary Art

The course regards as a survey of the roots and origins of modern & contemporary art since the Twentieth Century, and an investigation of the relation between the art, culture and philosophy of the century. Emphasis is on present-day art and its effect on Arab countries and especially the Sultanate of Oman.
