Microbiology and Immunology

The department of microbiology and immunology offers a four-year full-time research-based PhD program. Candidates graduating from this program will be able to pursue a career in research and academia.

Upon successful completion of the program, PhD candidate is required to write a thesis detailing the original work of suitable merit demonstrating their research methodologies and emphasizing their contribution to the science in the specific area of research. The candidate must demonstrate full capabilities of conducting independent research.

 

Research interests

  • Whole genome sequencing and genomics studies in gram positive and negative MDR, XDR and PDR bacteria.
  • Emerging infectious diseases including COVID-19 research clinical correlation of anti-inflammatory response and biochemical parameters, Clinical trial of anti-interleukin receptor antagonist and use of Artificial intelligence and machine learning to tackle COVID-19.
  • Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and synergy.
  • Autoimmunity and Immunity to hepatitis C virus infection and immunodeficiency, both primary and acquired, including HIV/AIDS.
