Since its founding in 1986, Sultan Qaboos University has emerged as an international center of academic excellence, research and innovation growing from 5000 to 15,000 students and now sits in the top 800 World Universities Ranking. The College of Economics and Political Science has also grown since 1993 from 7 to 86 faculty members and 122 students to 2600 undergraduate and 244 graduate students in 9 disciplines.

From its start, the College of Economics and Political Science has held to its mission to offer innovative, multi-disciplinary programs taught by renown faculty that prepare students to serve as top national and international business, government and community leaders. In recognition of CEP’s commitment to educational excellence, the prestigious European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) approved the College for Affiliate membership in June 2015.

This year, the College of Economics and Political Science will take the important step to seek EQUIS accreditation offered through EFMD. EQUIS is designed to provide recognition and advice to business schools and universities seeking to reach and maintain programs marked by high academic quality, professional ethics, social responsibility and global sustainability. Over the next three years, CEPS faculty, students, staff, alumni and external supporters will be working with EQUIS evaluators to review and align the College’s programs and activities with EFMD/EQUIS standards.

While a large endeavor, EQUIS accreditation will allow CEPS to benefit from full membership in EFMD’s prestigious worldwide network of superior business schools and provide graduates with the innovative knowledge and skills needed to capture a competitive edge in the world jobs market and lead in ways that promote global responsibility.

Please join us on our very important EQUIS journey and thank you for your help and support for our College
