The Pearl Initiative Round Table Forum on “Women Careers in GCC

Students and Faculty from college of economics and political science (CEPS) participated in The Pearl Initiative Round Table Forum on “Women Careers in GCC”. The Pearl Initiative is the leading independent, non-profit organization working to improve corporate accountability and transparency in the Gulf Region. Participation in the event is part of CEPS strategy of advancing “Ethics and Responsibility” (الأخلاق والمسؤولية) as the guiding principle and lifelong commitment for student professional and personal development. The event brought high level constituents together face-to-face to discuss how companies in the GCC are working to attract, retain and develop more women into senior corporate positions and the impact it has on their business. The Keynote Speaker was Raoul Restucci, Managing Director Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). In his speech, Mr. Raoul Restucci said that PDO has a 50:50 gender ratio of entry-level petroleum engineers. Carla Koffel, Executive Director of The Pearl Initiative said: “When women are provided with the right opportunities, they can demonstrate the business benefits they bring to any institution, and shift the region’s social perceptions on working women in the process.”

The event was held in InterContinental hotel, Muscat on 9th February 2017.
