and Political Science

Welcome to the College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS), where we nurture the next generation of business leaders and corporate professionals. With the support of its distinguished Advisory Board, dynamic leadership, highly accomplished faculty, vibrant staff members, and ambitious students, the College steadfastly continues to fulfill its vision to be internationally recognized for excellence in business and political science education. The College is accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS): the first public business school in the Middle East to achieve this prestigious accreditation.

The College has grown steadily and substantially since its first student intake of 123 undergraduate students in 1993. By the year 2020, the total student intake had grown to about 600 undergraduate and postgraduate students. As of September 2020 the total student body stood at 2604 undergraduate and 232 postgraduate students.

The College offers a comprehensive business and political science curriculum with eight undergraduate majors including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, and Political Science. Students also have the option to minor in those areas. CEPS offers five post-graduate programs namely, MBA (the largest postgraduate program at the University), MA in International Relations and Security Studies, MSc in Information Systems, MSc in Supply Chain and Operations Management, and MSc in Accounting and Finance. The College currently offers one PhD program, namely PhD in Information Systems, with three more PhD programs coming up in the near future.

The College has a visible national impact. Our graduates hold senior leadership positions and prominent roles in both the public and the private sectors; notably as deputy ministers in the government, CEOs of major banks and state and private companies, members of the Al-Shura and the State Councils, and as successful entrepreneurs. The total alumni of the College as of October 2020 comprises 7000 undergraduates and 367 postgraduates.

We are committed to providing an innovative, engaging, and stimulating learning environment for our students, built upon a strong foundation of core business and political science subject areas. Our teaching and learning is student-centered. We emphasize skills such as critical-thinking, leadership, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills to ensure our students’ success in their careers. CEPS offers numerous active-learning opportunities to develop professional skills including participation in local seminars, workshops lead by professionals, international competitions, internships, company tours, and career fairs.

We also work diligently to enhance our students’ intercultural and global experiences. To this end, the College offers a range of study-abroad opportunities, including semester-abroad exchange programs and short-term international internships. To facilitate exchange opportunities for students and faculty members, we have built strategic regional and international cooperation programs with prominent universities from different parts of the world.

We have a strong relationship with the corporate and governmental sectors. Our faculty members are actively involved in senior national committees, consulting with local business owners, and in direct engagement with business executives and entrepreneurs. This engagement allows our faculty to bring experience-based knowledge into the classroom. The College is also active in offering executive education through short courses, workshops and seminars. The College organizes international conferences and symposiums in various areas in business and political science.

The College is currently planning a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs and many more collaborations and exciting initiatives. The College is also working to enrich and further diversify our current study body. Please stay tuned for our updates.
