CEPS Political Science Students at NATO Headquarters

In March, 2017, 30 CEPS students and faculty advisors travelled to Brussels on a study trip and attended two days of educational sessions in the NATO Headquarters. On Day One, students learned about NATO’s relations and security challenges with the Mediterranean and the Middle East region from Mr. Nicola de Santis, Head, Middle East and North Africa Section and Political Affairs and Security Policy Division International Staff. In additional sessions, the students attended talks on public diplomacy, political affairs, and regional issues related to countries including Italy, Greece and Libya. In Day Two, the students received an overview on NATO Maritime operations and security missions and also on NATO – Russia Relations. In their final session, Dr .Deniz Beten-Yuksel, Head of the science for Peace and Security Program Section, Emerging Security Challenges Division, International Staff discussed NATO’s Science for Peace and Security Program and how the program works in parallel with NATO missions. As part of their Brussels trip, the CEPS students also visited the European Parliament and with His Excellency Omani Ambassador Najeem Bin Sulaiman Al-Abri, Sultanate's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union.
