Global Perspectives on Supporting Research Translation

05 Jun, 2024 PM 4:30 — 05 Jun, 2024 PM 6:00
Event details

Translational research which bridges the gap between basic scientific discoveries and their real-world application, has become increasingly vital in addressing global challenges. Funders play an important role in driving impactful translational research outcomes. How can funders support and promote cross-disciplinary translational research in a global context? What are the best practices and lessons learned from existing funding schemes and initiatives? What are the emerging opportunities and needs for translational research?

Co-organized by the European Infrastructure of Translational Medicine (EATRIS), European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities (EASSH), and Taylor & Francis, we will bring research funding and performing organizations across continents (EU, UK, US) to share how they support effective knowledge translation and how we could do it better globally. Our panel of experts include:

- Dr Joni Rutter, Director of National Centre for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), NIH

- Dr Anji Miller, Senior Business Manager, LifeArc

- Dr Alicia Greated, Executive Director, Campaign for Science & Engineering (CaSE)

- Dr Nikos Kastrinos, former European Commission official for Foresight in the Directorate General for Research and Innovation

The session will be chaired by Anton Ussi, Operations and Finance Director at EATRIS.

Join this webinar to exchange views and best practices with experts from international funding agencies and research organizations.

Drawing upon recent methodological advances, we are delighted to announce the launch of next generation SciVal Topics in May 2024.

A SciVal Topic is a collection of publications with a common intellectual interest, as determined through citation patterns. They can be used to enrich strategic planning through a portfolio analysis to see which research fields you and your peers are active in, which appear to be fast moving, and who are key contributors.

The new updated set of Topics are more cohesive, providing greater relevance and precise insights, in addition to other benefits introduced with the launch.

In this webinar, we will look at the next generation SciVal Topics, talk about the benefits, as well as the functionality made available to help you transition to the new generation Topics, and answer any questions you may have.
