About

Directorate of Training and Continuing Professional Development (DT&CPD) participates in continuous medical development through Training Courses (Scheduled & Un-scheduled), Scholarship and Training Attachments. All the training courses offered at this Directorate are accredited by Oman Medical Specialty Board, which is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgery in Canada and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education in Saudi Arabia. The American Heart Association (AHA) accredited the Directorate of Training & CPD, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital as an international training center to conduct the AHA courses: BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEARS and Heart saver – Arabic & English. DT& CPD provides training services to medical, paramedical, technical and administrative departments to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their work at the highest level and provide high-quality health care services. We also provide training opportunities for undergraduates and staff from other health organizations.

Vision

Directorate will be a training center of excellence in Oman assuming a leadership role in continuing education, research and providing the highest standard of programs meeting the growing educational needs of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital staff.

Mission

Directorate offers excellence in providing opportunities for training, professional development, continuing education and in-house training for all Sultan Qaboos University Hospital staff, thereby promoting the delivery of highest quality patient care.

Services

In-House Scheduled Training Programs
These training courses are planned for the whole year based on the needs of the SQUH staff and it provides continuous training to maintain the highest quality care, also to update and enhance their skills in delivering safe care for the patient.

In-House Unscheduled Training Programs
These training courses are delivered based on departmental training needs that differ yearly. It can be specific for particular department staff or maybe a general course for all SQUH staff. It provides an opportunity to invite external speakers to conduct training courses and these courses are open to external participants in other healthcare organizations.

Scholarships - Undergraduate and Postgraduate
This section determines the needs of the staff for academic specializations/qualifications in accordance with the vision and mission of the hospital. In addition, it reviews the applications for Grants, study leaves, and no objection letters to study on their expenses according to the SQU rules and regulations.

Attachment
The attachment provides observational/hands-on opportunity for doctors, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, and students to gain the required skills to meet the future job, related to their specialty.

  1. Enrollment letter from the university or college, or graduation certificate.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. A copy of the ID card.
