About Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery was established in 1986 and since then it has grown steadily to become the largest Department of Surgery in the country. There are 88 doctors, 7 technicians and 2 administrators. We are an academically oriented department that focuses on teaching, research and training in addition to excellence in patient care.

Vision

The department aspires to achieve excellence in clinical services, teaching, training and research and to be recognized as a leader in the field of surgery in the region and globally.

Mission

The department is primarily concerned with teaching, clinical services, research and continuing medical education.

We strive for excellence in all these areas. We provided an environment and opportunity for students at all levels to gain sound medical education and surgical training, underpinned by our high standards of clinical services and collaborative research and other scholarly activities.
