The Office of the Assistant Dean for Training and Community Service at the College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University, is responsible for organizing and following up on programs and initiatives related to student training, staff training, student activities, and community service. The office plays an important role in strengthening the academic and community engagement of the college and in building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

 

The office works to enhance training opportunities, coordinate programs and events, and support initiatives that contribute to the development of students and staff, while reinforcing the college’s engagement with the community in line with the university’s mission and strategic goals.

Student Training Process

The office oversees the student training plan through:

  • Communicating with government and private sector entities to secure suitable training opportunities.

  • Coordinating with academic departments to identify students who meet training requirements.

  • Preparing databases for eligible students and available training opportunities.

  • Assigning students to suitable training entities based on specialization and available opportunities.

  • Following up on the implementation of training in coordination with academic departments and host organizations.

  • Receiving training outcomes and forwarding them to the relevant academic offices for approval.

 

Stages of the Training Plan

Phase One: Building Partnerships and Securing Training Opportunities

The office communicates with relevant government and private sector entities to provide suitable training opportunities for students.

Phase Two: Identifying Eligible Students

The office coordinates with academic departments to identify students who meet the approved training requirements.

Phase Three: Assigning Students to Training Opportunities

Students are nominated for suitable opportunities, training entities are contacted, and the final placement lists are approved.

Phase Four: Training Follow-Up and Student Evaluation

Training programs are monitored academically and administratively, and students are evaluated in coordination with the relevant supervisors.
