Accreditation for Chemistry programs
The Chemistry Department, SQU invited the Canadian Society of Chemistry (CSC) to visit SQU for a dual purpose. Second Cycle Accreditation of the B.Sc. in Chemistry Program and First Cycle Accreditation of the B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry Program.
A CSC accrediting team made up of Prof. Cherif Matta and Prof. Mansour Al-Matarneh was assigned for the task which was performed December 25th and 26th, 2022.
Prof. Al-Matarneh's flight arrived on time while Prof. Matta's flight was cancelled. Prof. Matta was able to join some meetings and deliberations online via Google Meet.
Prof. Al-Matarneh met with Dean of Science Dr. Talal Al-Housni, Chemistry faculty members, Chemistry technical staff members and undergraduate students. He also toured the Chemistry Department teaching and research facilities, the Central Analytical and Applied Research Unit and the Main Library. Both team members thoroughly reviewed the Chemistry and Applied Chemistry curricula.
A detailed report on both degrees is due in January 2023.
