On behalf of the students and staff of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department, it is my privilege to welcome new students and visitors. At the same time, I wish our current students and graduates well.

Since its inception back in 1986, the department has committed itself to maintaining its course of excellence in teaching & learning, research & development, and community service. We believe that the role of the department is not only limited to pursuing academic excellence but also to motivating and empowering its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and creative constituents of a fast-changing society.

The department offers four specializations in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These are Telecommunications and Wireless Systems, Embedded Computing & Networks, Power Systems & Energy, and Electronic Instrumentation & Control. In addition, the department offers an undergraduate Mechatronics Engineering program in partnership with the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

If you are an undergraduate student who is considering his/her options for specialization, let me assure you that the ECE staff saves no effort in delivering quality courses in a well-designed curriculum. In fact, the ECE program has been continuously accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET), EAC since 2006. This is a prestigious accreditation that attests to the standard that we maintain. Furthermore, the ECE department hosts several educational and research laboratories that are well equipped to serve the pedagogical processes and research endeavors.

If you are considering your options for postgraduate studies, then I am pleased to inform you that the department offers both MSc and PhD programs in Electrical & Computer Engineering. Students who join the program can expand their knowledge and skills through a set of advanced courses. The student will develop their research capability as they carry out their thesis.

The department has competent staff with experience in a wide spectrum of ECE fields such as unmanned vehicle systems, electrical power systems, renewable energy, micro-grids, smart grid, electronic instrumentation, control systems, embedded systems, PLC, SCADA, robotics, computer architecture, computer networks, communication systems, signal processing, biomedical signals and devices, electronic devices and systems, high voltage engineering, embedded vision system, etc.

I encourage you to join the ECE program, where students learn, practice, experience, and have fun!
