This program aims to prepare qualified Biology teachers to work in secondary schools although graduates will also be eligible to teach general science subjects in basic schools. In order to achieve these goals, a variety of teaching methods are utilized, including theoretical lectures, laboratory sessions, workshops, seminars and field studies.
Graduates are required to complete 132 credit hours of study, consisting of 18 hours of general cultural subjects (University requirements), 75 hours of specialized academic instruction in Biology and 39 hours of educational and vocational courses (College requirements). Field placement in the Sultanate’s schools ensures that practical as well as theoretical skills are mastered. Employment opportunities lie chiefly in the basic and secondary school system which is in great need of teachers with this specialization.
