The Educational Technology Group is a voluntary student organization operating under the umbrella of the Education Society. It brings together individuals with a keen interest in technological advancements and seeks to promote societal awareness regarding the importance of integrating technology within educational contexts. The group is dedicated to enhancing students’ competencies through workshops and initiatives that emphasize creativity and collaborative work, with the ultimate aim of equipping them with practical skills aligned with the requirements of the contemporary labor market in an innovative and applied manner.

 

Group Vision:


In response to the accelerating transformations within the technological domain, the Educational Technology Group aspires to play a leading role in advancing the Omani educational landscape. By harnessing the latest educational technologies, the group endeavors to contribute to improving the quality of educational outcomes in accordance with the demands of the digital era, thereby positioning the Sultanate among the foremost nations in the realm of smart education.

 

Group Mission:

The Educational Technology Group is committed to fostering students’ awareness of the pivotal role of technology in contemporary life, particularly in education, through the provision of interactive programs and workshops designed to cultivate practical skills. The group firmly believes that when employed effectively, technology can generate meaningful and sustainable impact. Consequently, it strives to establish an innovative learning environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with experiential learning, thereby fostering creativity and experimentation through tools that are attuned to the current technological age.

•    To identify and nurture students’ potential in the technological field and graduate capable individuals who can effect transformative change within the Omani educational system.
•    To promote awareness of the significance of employing technology in education, both within the university community and beyond.
•    To provide scholarly and cultural content that addresses educational issues from a contemporary technological perspective.
•    To establish digital communication channels that enable students to acquire advanced educational technology skills.

•    Membership requires a demonstrable interest in technology.
•    Academic commitments shall remain the primary priority; the group’s activities are regarded as complementary and to be pursued during     discretionary time.
•    Members shall uphold values of integrity, respect, and professional ethics.
•    Cooperation and teamwork are fundamental to the success of the group.
•    Members are expected to attend workshops and meetings convened by the group.

•    Orientation and reception for new students:
Welcoming new students to the Department of Instructional and Learning Technology, introducing them to the department, explaining the study plans and available career opportunities, and offering a field tour of the department to familiarize them with the academic and technical facilities. This will help facilitate their integration into the university environment and motivate them to have a great start.
•    Participation in the Majors Exhibition
Providing a comprehensive overview of the educational and learning technology major, including its various fields, the skills students acquire during their studies, and the career opportunities associated with it. This aims to enable students to plan a successful career path and make informed academic decisions that align with their interests and abilities.
•    Opening ceremony
A welcome event held at the beginning of the academic year aims to introduce students and interested parties to the Educational Technology Group. It includes a presentation of the group's vision, goals, and annual event plan, in addition to interactive and motivational segments that help build a sense of belonging and encourage active student participation.
•    A series of external workshops
Organizing interactive field workshops targeting school students, presenting topics in the field of educational technology, with the aim of developing technical and intellectual skills, with a focus on developing 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving, thus preparing them for a rapidly changing digital world.
•    Technology camp
A seasonal event organized by the Education Technology Group targeting children, it offers a variety of interactive workshops aimed at developing their technological and creative skills and introducing them to the basics of programming, digital design, and modern technical skills in a fun and engaging way.
•    Graduation celebration for the department
A small celebration for the department's graduates
•    Creator’s Camp
An annual event organized by the Education Technology Group, it takes the form of an intensive, multi-week camp. The goal is to prepare a group of young Omanis to build an influential digital presence in various fields: content creation, game development, graphic design, etc.
•    Closing ceremony
An event that concludes the Education Technology Group's activities at the end of the year. The event showcases the group's achievements during the year, highlights key events and initiatives, honors active members and participants, and provides a space for expressing experiences and future proposals.
•    Oman Science Festival
The Education Technology Group is participating in the Science Festival by presenting scientific presentations, seminars, lectures, and organizing exhibitions of scientific findings and student projects, in addition to a science theater, competitions, and live experiments. The group is also showcasing unique innovations and initiatives in the fields of food security, artificial intelligence, and sustainable environment. The participation aims to introduce the cognitive development program in science and mathematics, highlight topics related to artificial intelligence and future jobs, and encourage students to research, investigate, and think scientifically. These events target school and university students, educators, parents, representatives of ministries and government institutions, and the private sector concerned with science, as well as researchers and academics.
