PhD in Curriculum and Instruction:

This program aims to prepare highly qualified specialized national educational research leaders to serve Omani educational institutions of all types and levels. It also aims to provide public and private higher education institutions locally and regionally with distinguished instructors and researches to meet their needs. They also expected to meet the needs of the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate for researchers, experts and educational and scientific advisors. This program also aims at achieving partnership and scientific and educational exchange between regional and international scientific bodies willing to cooperate and exchange scientific and educational experiences with Sultan Qaboos University. The department offers doctoral programs in curricula and Instruction in six majors, namely: (Islamic education, Arabic, social studies, English, science, and mathematics). The department offers a doctoral program with a thesis option only (there are no credit hours). In this option, the student must conduct original and distinguished scientific research on his/her subject. This has to show students mastery of scientific research methodology, and prove his ability to conduct research independently. The thesis must bring contribution to knowledge. In this option, an oral exam is administered. The department may require some students to register for a maximum of 12 hour courses depending on the nature of each program. The usual official period for obtaining a PhD degree extends from three to six years, depending on the program and program type.
