CAEP Accountability Measures

Annual Accountability Measures for Academic Year (2024/2025): [September 1, 2024– August 31, 2025)

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) requires that the Sultan Qaboos University, College of Education report on and show four CAEP Accountability Measures. These measures provide students and stakeholders with information and data on Sultan Qaboos University’s Education Preparation Providers (EPP) teacher candidate and graduate outcomes and impact on P-12 students.

Measure 1: Teaching Practice Effectiveness in Fall of 2024 & Spring of 2025 on supervisors & cooperating teachers.

The COE, Quality Assurance & Academic Accreditation (QAAAAU), and Field Experience and Student Teaching (FEST) units administered three surveys during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. The first survey aims to evaluate teaching effectiveness from the perspectives of Student Teaching Candidates, Supervisors, and Cooperating Teachers. The data collected from the second survey helps identify the impact that the EPP’s Student Teaching Candidates have on P–12 student learning and growth, as well as their effectiveness in applying professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions. The third survey, completed by Ministry of Education supervisors, evaluates the classroom teaching practices of SQU graduates and provides additional evidence of graduates’ professional performance in school settings

 

Measure 2: Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement (R4.2|R5.3)

The Quality Assurance & Academic Accreditation (QAAAAU) unit administered two surveys during the academic year (2024/2025). The Employer Satisfaction Survey gathers feedback from employers regarding their satisfaction with the performance and preparedness of program completers. The Completer Survey collects graduates’ perspectives on the quality of the program and the extent to which it prepared them for professional practice.

Measure 3: Candidate competency at completion (R3.3)

The Quality Assurance & Academic Accreditation (QAAAAU) collected multiple sources of data to evaluate candidate competency at program completion. The Capstone Portfolio provides evidence of candidates’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills. The Candidates’ Professional Values assessments (by Supervisors and Cooperating Teachers, as well as self-assessment) evaluate professional dispositions and ethical practices. The Technology and Digital Learning Survey in Student Teaching measures candidates’ ability to effectively integrate technology into teaching. The OPIC Statistics Results provide evidence of candidates’ oral language proficiency.

Measure 4: Ability of completers to be hired in positions for which they have prepared

Each year, the Ministry of Education provides employment data who completed a program of study through Sultan Qaboos University's EPP and are currently employed. The employment rate for the year can be found in the following documents.
