ISLM 2108 3cr. Worship Jurisprudence "Cleanliness and Prayers". (4hrs.Lectures)
This course aims at making students recognize the easiness of implementation of Islamic legislations with regard to the field of cleanliness (purity) and performance of prayers. Provisions that control cleanliness and prayers are provided as part of the course so that relevant concepts are well comprehended by students. The course makes the students develop their abilities in Islamic jurisprudence through getting acquainted with different opinions with regard to the same juristic issue. Through this course, students shall come to know the educational influence of prayers and cleanliness upon individuals, families and community. The course shall correct common misunderstandings and wrong information formed in students' minds which are originated from ignorance or as result of blind imitation of others with regard to different aspects of worship. The course provides definitions of cleanliness and dirtiness (purity and impurity) as well as their subparts and provisions. It states the concept of ablution, performance of ritual body washing and washing with clean sand as well as their provisions. The concept of prayers is well introduced in the course as well as its types, conditions, basis and provisions.

This course aims at making students get acquainted with the main principles, the juristic terms and Islamic legitimate rulings related to fasting, religious seclusion, the zakat (almsgiving) and the hajj (pilgrimage). The course explains the easiness of implementation of Islamic legislations with regard to the field of fasting, the zakat and the hajj. Students are expected to develop their abilities with regard to Islamic jurisprudence through getting acquainted with different opinions with regard to the same juristic issue. They shall also get acquainted with different methods of discretion "independent opinion" (Ijtihad) to reach a juristic judgment of a certain issue. They shall gain knowledge of performing Islamic worships properly. The course includes the following topics: the concept of the zakat and its provisions, the definition, types and provisions of fasting, the definitions and provisions of the hajj and U'mra.
ISLM1101 1cr. Recitation, memorization and modulation of the Quran 1. (3hrs.Lecture)
The course aims at making students memorize both sections of Amma and Tabark of the Quran plus recitation of the the first three sections. They shall know the merits and manners of reciting the Quran, the proper basic elements of studying the Quran as well as the provision of seeking protection of Allah, saying " In the name of Allah" and the implementation of the principles of reading stressed letters: the " noon" and the "meem" , as well as the constant " meem " and the agitation of some letters while they are recited.

The course aims at making students memorize the Suras (Chapters) of Al Isra and Al Kahf , master the recitation of the 10th, 11th and 12th sections of the Quran as well as comprehend and apply the rules of pause and start of recitation.

The course aims at making students get acquainted with the objective interpretation, its origin, theme and types. It also covers research methodology within this subject as well as the most prominent publications in this field. The course includes research methods in objective interpretation and provides practical examples such as the concept of Godhood in the Quran, the objective integrity and unity of the Suras of Al Kahf (the cave) and Yousif.

The course aims at training students on understanding the Quranic texts from grammatical, rhetorical and juristic points of view. It shall also train them on how to conduct comparative analysis to the Quranic texts. The course, also, aims at making students extract lessons and examples and apply such lessons in real life situations. The course includes analyzes of surat al Ahzab and surat al Rahman.
ISLM 3105 3cr. Analytical Interpretation (Al Noor and Al Hujrat) . (4hrs.Lecture)
The course aims at training students on the employment of their linguistic, juristic, ideological and general skills in interpreting Quranic texts through making comparisons as well as taking lessons and examples and applying them in real life situations. The course includes analyzes of surat al nur and surat al hujurat.
ISLM 1107 3cr. Islamic Ideology. (4hrs.Lecture)
The course aims at making students know the importance of religion and its effect on human life. It also aims at making them learn inference and deduction using self-generated evidences on the correctness of Islamic ideology. They are expected to learn the proper pathways that lead to straight conviction and to avoid false routes and to have faith in what should be believed in of the perfect attributes of Allah. Students shall also learn the effect of ideology in refining human behavior and acquire the ability to disproof suspicions and doubts raised against proper faith in Islam.
ISLM 2113 2cr. Research Methodologies in Islamic Sciences . (4hrs.lecture)
The course aims at making students know the concepts of research, essays and academic thesis. They shall acquire skills of development of research, collection of scientific data and information as well as abilities of selection of topics, making plans, writing research and develop their abilities of research, creativity and authoring. Students, through this course, shall get acquainted with the rich Islamic heritage and shall learn how to scrutinize and publicize this heritage. They shall also learn about the roles made by scholars of Islam in enriching the scientific civilization with different types of sciences and knowledge. Students are expected to develop their research abilities in Islamic science as well as to practice reading and scrutinizing manuscripts.
ISLM 4101 3cr. Theology (3hrs.Lecture)
The course aims at consolidating the principles of faith in Allah. They shall learn and interpret the main statement of monotheism from both fiducial and practical points of view. Students shall also get acquainted with the proper evidences related to issues of monotheism and they shall come to conclusions on the being, attributes and deeds of Allah. The course provides students with knowledge on the precepts and conventions of Prophecy of the Prophet Mohammed, the Prophet's Mission, authority in Islam, repudiation and repentance as well as types and reasons of infidelity. Students shall acquire abilities on how to defend and disproof suspicions and doubts related to issues of monotheism.
ISLM 4126 3cr. Penal Jurisprudence in Islam. (3hrs.Lecture)
The course aims at making students get acquainted with the definition, adaption and types of "crime". The course shall teach students types of punishments in Islam (either as Hudud or Taziz). The course highlights the difference between Islamic laws and other positive laws in adapting and regulating criminals as well as implementation of penalties. The course also highlights the good aspects and merits of implementation of Islamic punishments which results in the stability of the society.
ISLM 1104 3cr. Family Provisions. (3hrs. Lecture)
The course aims at making students get acquainted with the foresight of Islam in the legitimacy of marriage. Students are expected to learn the elements of proper marriage, the rights and duties of spouses, the rights and duties of parents and children. The course compares between incidental traditions within the community. Students are expected to know how to solve problems that face wives and husbands. It provides students with the provisions of marriage such as its introductions, basis, terms, types and obstructions.
ISLM 3118 3cr. Transactions Jurisprudence. (4hrs.Lecture)
This course aims at making students know and profoundly study the Sharia (legitimate) terms and concepts included within the glossary of the course such as (sale, interest, right of option, right of preemption, attorneyship, sharecropping, companies …). Students shall learn the provisions related to transactions along with their evidences as well as types of valid and invalid sales, types of options and their provisions, construction of a juristic mentality which is able to comprehend contemporary practical examples of transactions and their employment in life. They shall recognize the characteristics of transactions jurisprudence within the Islamic Sharia.
ISLM 1108 2cr. Introduction to the Islamic jurisprudence. (3hrs.Lecture)
This course aims at teaching students the concept of jurisprudence to distinguish between it and other related terminologies. Students shall be informed of the roles of Islamic jurisprudence and the features of each role. The course also aims at informing students of the emergence of Islamic jurisprudence, juristic schools and juristic rites as well as the reasons of juristic disputes and disagreements. Students shall come to know the advantages of Islamic legislative system, the immortality of the Islamic Sharia and the validity of its provisions to solve issues and problems of the people and life any where at any time.
ISLM 2107 3cr. Sciences of the Holy Quran and approaches of interpreters. (4hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the methods and attitudes followed by interpreters of the Quran. Students shall learn how to distinguish between the characteristics of the Quran revealed to the Prophet in Mecca and the oQuran revealed in Al Madina. They shall know how to distinguish between the precise and the analogous in the Quran. Students shall make comparisons between the collection of the Quran during the eras of the Caliph Abu Bakr and the Caliph Othman. Students shall acquire skills to criticize narration of reasons of revelation of the Quran and appreciation of the roles of Islamic scholars in the field of the Sciences of the Quran.
ISLM 2105 3cr. Sciences of the Prophet's Hadith (Sayings) and approaches of narrators of the Prophet's Hadith. (3hrs.Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the rules which are used by the Hadith narrators in accepting the Hadith and to make them know the approaches and methods used by the narrators in writing books and in distinguishing between the Hadiths in terms of being true, acceptable or weak. Students shall develop their abilities in extracting and judging news and narrations as well as making comparisons between rules and methods used by narrators.
ISLM 2111 3cr. Interpretation of Hadiths and Study of References (Asanid). (4hrs.Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the methods used by narrators in interpreting the Hadiths as well as training them on such methods. Students shall understand how to deal with the Hadith and Sunna books. This course makes students acquire abilities to interpret Hadiths and to have access to them at their most likely locations. It develops their abilities in making judgments with regard to the validity and invalidity of Hadiths through studying interpretation as a subject. The course provides students with knowledge on the approved sources of Hadiths and on methods used by scholars in including the Hadiths in their books as well as the requirements and conditions they fulfill to carry out such task.
ISLM 3112 3cr. Inheritance Provisions. (4hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the concept of heritage, inheritance and will. They shall be informed of the most important issues in the field of inheritance provisions and they shall infer how far the Islamic inheritance system is effective within Islamic societies. They shall recognize the fairness of Islamic legislation in distribution of inheritance and develop their juristic abilities to solve inheritance problems. Students shall be trained on solving these problems by electronic software of inheritance jurisprudence.
ISLM 4129 2cr. Form of government in Islam (3hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the concept of the state and government. It explains to students the political status of the Arabs before the Islam and analyzes the conditions during which the Islamic state and the caliphate system were established. Students shall be informed of the principles of justice, freedom, equity and the Shura in Islam and how they are different from other systems. They shall develop their juristic capabilities to be able to make comparisons between the political system in Islam and other systems. They shall infer the elements of power of the orthodox caliphate era. Students shall develop their perception of the historical dimension of the implementation of the principle of the Shura within the Omani society
ISLM3113 3cr. Analytical Hadith. (4hrs. Lectures).
This course aims at increasing the students’ awareness of dissemination models and strategies. It emphasizes the four major areas of the adoption process: awareness, interest, observation, and adoption of educational innovation. It also gives the st This course aims at making students understand properly the Prophet's Hadiths and acquire the ability to extract provisions and make correct references to these Hadiths. Students shall learn how to analyze the Hadiths in a proper way supported by sound knowledge of Isalmic jurisprudence and the Arabic language. Students are expected to memorize and learn by heart a set of Hadiths so as to enrich their vocabulary and to gain some of the Prophet's eloquence. The course trains students on sciences that they need to understand the prophet's sayings as well as to familiarize themselves with uncommon words included in Hadiths . Students are expected to know the reasons beyond the Hadiths. They are also expected to perceive and sense the Sunna and biography of the Prophet through studying texts of his sayings.

This course aims at teaching students the philosophy of wealth and money in Islam as well as the legitimate and ideological measures that control financial transactions within this philosophy. Students shall come to know the basic features of Islamic economic system and its appropriateness to the requirements of current life. Students study latest economic developments and experiences from different countries of the world and look into the possibilities of making use of such experiences within Islamic Sharia frameworks. This course aims at teaching students the concept of ethics in Islam as well as the importance of these ethics and their basis and characteristics. This course aims at teaching students the concept of thought and reasoning as well as the general effects that contribute to the development of human thought in general and the Islamic thought in particular. The course discusses the influence and trends of the schools of Islamic thought at present and the role of this thought in serving civilizations at different times.
ISLM 4122 3cr. The Family Provisions in Islam" Separation between husband and wife". (3hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students Islamic legitimate provisions and juristic terminologies with regard to aspects of separation between husband and wife such as judicial annulment of the marriage contract, separation through a legal court, forthright divorce, implicit divorce, heterodoxy divorce or "Sunnah" divorce. Students shall get acquainted with the provisions of "Idda" (the period during which a divorcee may not remarry). The course aims at developing the abilities of students' abilities in the field of Islamic jurisprudence through getting acquainted with different opinions with regard to the same juristic issue. Students are expected to use different methods of independent study and research to arrive at a legitimate judgment with regard to a certain issue as well as to acquire ability to convey the juristic knowledge they learn to others.

This course aims at teaching students the issue of human rights and their historical developments. It also explains the concept of human rights in the light of the Quran and the Sunna of the Prophet. It teaches the students different aspects of human rights that are guaranteed by Islam for individuals and societies. The course highlights the advantages of human rights in Islam andcompares these to the international declaration and other conventions of human rights. It also disproves the suspicions raised against human rights in Islam.
ISLM 3116 3cr. Juristic Rules (3hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the concept of juristic rules and the differences between these rules at one hand and the fundamental rules, juristic controls and juristic theory on the other hand. Students are expected to realize the importance of juristic rules and their effect in forming interpretative mentality. They shall also know the major five juristic rules and the detailed juristic rules.
ISLM 3115 3cr. Missionary Activities and Orientalism (3hrs. Lectures)
This course aims at teaching students the dimensions of missionary activities and orientalism as well as their objectives towards Islam. The course shall address the reasons behind the negative attitudes and hostility against Islam as well as the means used to express such attitudes. These hostile attitudes are analyzed by the course in the light of Islamic values and civilization. The course aims at immunizing students against the doubts and suspicions raised against Islam and Muslims. The course addresses certain cases which are dealt with by missionary activities and the orientalism movement. It emphasizes the true value of Islam and Islamic civilization. This course aims at teaching students contemporary and new juristic issues in Islam jurisprudence.
